About Folding Monitor

Folding Monitor is a community-focused dashboard for exploring Folding@home users, teams, countries, rankings, and contribution statistics.

It is designed for people who care about distributed computing, scientific contribution, team competition, and long-term impact — and who want a cleaner, more visual way to understand Folding@home activity.

What Folding Monitor does

Folding Monitor helps you follow Folding@home activity across users, teams, and countries.

With Folding Monitor, you can:

- track top users, teams, and countries across 24h, 7d, 30d, and all-time rankings;

- explore public Folding@home contribution statistics;

- compare credits, work units, rank movement, and activity trends;

- discover active teams and contributors;

- view country-based participation and output;

- connect your Folding@home account to personalize your experience;

- generate clean forum signature cards for your user and team profiles.

Our goal is simple: make Folding@home contribution data easier to understand, easier to share, and more rewarding to follow.

Why we built it

Folding@home has a long and meaningful history as one of the world’s largest distributed computing projects. Millions of users have donated computing power to support scientific research and large-scale molecular simulation.

But the community experience around rankings, teams, countries, and personal progress can be difficult to explore in a modern and visual way.

Folding Monitor was created to make that experience clearer.

We wanted to build a place where contributors can quickly see:

- who is leading;

- which teams are rising;

- which countries are represented;

- how activity changes over time;

- how their own contribution fits into the wider community.

Not just raw numbers — but a clearer picture of community effort.

For users

Folding Monitor gives individual contributors a clean way to view rankings, progress, country information, team affiliation, and contribution summaries.

If you connect your Folding@home account, Folding Monitor can verify your profile and show a more personalized experience.

You can also generate forum signature cards that display your Folding@home contribution in a compact visual format, suitable for community forums and profile pages.

For teams

Teams are one of the strongest parts of the Folding@home community.

Folding Monitor highlights team performance, team rankings, member activity, and leaderboard movement across different time periods.

Whether you are part of a long-established team or building a new one, Folding Monitor helps make team contribution easier to follow and easier to share.

For countries

Country-based leaderboards help show the global nature of Folding@home participation.

Folding Monitor displays country rankings, country activity, and participation trends based on user country settings.

Users without a selected country are treated separately and are not used to distort country rankings.

Forum signature cards

Folding Monitor includes signature card generation for users and teams.

These cards are designed for forums and community pages where Folding@home participants want to show their contribution in a compact, attractive format.

Each card can include selected information such as username, team, country, rank, credits, work units, and recent activity.

The goal is to make contribution visible — without turning it into a spreadsheet.

Data and independence

Folding Monitor is an independent service operated by Vitaltale LLC.

It is not an official Folding@home service and is not operated, sponsored, endorsed, or controlled by Folding@home, Stanford University, or any related Folding@home project operator.

The service may use public Folding@home-related data, Folding@home APIs, user-provided account connection data, and internally calculated statistics.

Because source data and APIs may change, rankings and statistics may sometimes be delayed, incomplete, cached, or different from other sources.

We aim to present the data clearly and responsibly, but Folding Monitor should be understood as a community monitoring and visualization tool, not an official source of record.

Privacy-first by design

Folding Monitor does not use advertising tracking and does not sell personal data.

Your Folding@home passkey, if provided to connect your account, is used only for verification. It is not used to fold on your behalf, control your Folding@home client, or access your device.

We do not store your passkey in plain text.

Folding Monitor is built to be useful without unnecessary tracking. If analytics are added in the future, they are intended to be privacy-friendly and self-hosted.

Part of the Vitaltale ecosystem

Folding Monitor is operated by Vitaltale LLC and reflects Vitaltale’s broader interest in health-related technology, research contribution, data organization, and community-driven participation.

While Folding Monitor is not a medical service and does not provide medical advice, it supports the idea that people can contribute to science in more than one way — including through distributed computing, open community participation, and shared visibility of contribution.

Our vision

We believe contribution should be visible.

People donate electricity, hardware time, technical effort, attention, and persistence to Folding@home. Teams organize communities around that effort. Countries show how global the participation is.

Folding Monitor exists to make that effort easier to see.

Cleaner rankings. Better profiles. Stronger team visibility. More meaningful community statistics.

That is the purpose of Folding Monitor.
